Got a chance to buy one for $270 and should be able to talk him down a little. It's been sitting under the sons bed for years, basically perfect condition. Gig bag, hss configuration, Trem, navy blue and maple neck. I'll be checking it out tonight.

Seems like a decent deal but what's the used market value on these?

Also, what kind of pickups did they put in these?

Thx for any info.

A good one is a (yes, there are some good ones) $300. guitar all day, and make great back-up guitars for the 'true' one guitar kinda' guy that is looking to have a solid 'get you through a string break/change' at a gig or whatever. If you are looking to learn how to modify, do upgrades...they are a wonderful trainer for that also. I know a member here that has a (vintage) guitar he retired,...and ALL of his everyday players, giggers, etc., are MIMs, MIKs, and a MIC., and his Strat. and Tele. are both MIM Standards, (slight upgrades) and are just great. He may not be a good 'corksniffer',...But, he can give Johnny B. Goode a run for his money playing wise (LOL). Tom

It's got the gig bag too but I don't know if it's a 60th anny or not. Anyone else care to weigh in? I'll be heading up there in an hour.

If it is in great shape, then $250-270 is a pretty good price. I have owned a ton of MIM Strats over the years and they are great guitars. The pickups could be upgraded, but the stock ones aren't terrible. They are very decent as is.

The 60th Annniversary part only matters if it is the pearl/silver special edition with the tinted neck. The little coin on the back of the headstock does nothing for the value of the regular ones.

If you can get it for $250 I'd say you got yourself a great deal. I liked my MIM so much I got rid of my USA after I got it. Granted, I got really lucky as it's just way better sounding than most. Who knows you may get lucky too. A GOOD setup will do wonders.

It being an '06,...If it does NOT have the little 60th anny. tag,...It could have Tex-Mex p-ups in the neck and middle...Late '04 through to early '06 Most MIM Std.'s had them...When you plug it in, and you get a 'Bite'/ Hot sound/tone without being harsh/brittle, you may just have Tex-Mex p-ups in the neck and middle, if they are, when you roll back the tone knob (CTS pots by the way...same as AmStd.), you will get some very nice tones, I hope you got it. Yeah I snagged it for $245. It sounds really good as in, exceeded my expectations. The action is great and sustains very well in all positions. The pickups sound great all across the gain spectrum; pretty evenly balanced tho i lowered the bridge just a tad. I think the HB is actually split in the #2 position cuz its got all that spank and quack you'd expect. The 60th anny badge is there too. It has about three small pressure dings on random parts of the body and a small mark on the back of the neck around the 5th fret but that's no biggie. Next to no fretware at all.

The only issue is tuning instability when using the Trem. :bitch Pushing down the strings go flat and pulling back goes sharp. I lubed the nut, string tree and adjusted the springs a bit but still no luck. Could be the nut but I guess I'll do a search to see about trouble shooting.
Overall I'm really stoked on this purchase and can't wait to fire it up on stage this weekend!:D
Thx again guys

Nice score. Do yourself a favor and order this book. Follow his setup instructions for the Strat and your tuning issues should disappear. Worked like a champ on mine.

Thx. I did a little late searching and ended up fixing it by backing off the six bridge screws a 1/4 turn each. It returns to pitch now. Also I'll have to change out the strings cuz they're wrapped multiple times around the posts.

Here's the thread, post 11

OK price. I would personally not pay more than $250 unless it had a hard case. I recently bought a MIM for $300 but it had a really nice aftermarket hard case which I can easily sell for $50, and probably will.

Just got done noodling for an hour or two. Only had to down tune the G twice. Here's a pic.
Now thinking about a tortoise guard and callaham block. Lol
