A friend asked me if I wanted to buy his black faced Super Reverb. He thinks it's a '65 (I asked for the chassis serial number to verify). It's all pretty original, though the speakers have been reconed (no big deal to me). I want to make him a fair offer (he is a friend) but not get ripped. Is $1400 - $1500 reasonable?

    thanks

That's a pretty good price if it's in decent condition. They sell in vintage shops for anywhere between 1800 and 2500.

He just emailed me that the chassis serial number is A177XX. I think that means a '66, not a '65. Perhaps worth a bit less? $1350 - $1450?

I saw a '67 that was ridiculously clean and sounded amazing at sam ash for $2000 even.

So yeah...thats probably the real price.

Dealers charge more. That's a fair, if slightly modest, range. Just make sure the amp is right -- original transformers, speakers, and cab.
