Production Date of my Fender Pro Reverb SF

Just curious what the production dates are on my two Fender Pro Reverb, Silverfaces. They (at least at one time) are identical with Master Volumes but no boost pull knob or mid knob on the reverb channels. They both came with Oxford 12 L 6 speakers. I am assuming they were made around 1974-1976.

One is completely stock, the other one was reverted back to Black face specs and the master removed. Allthough I think the job was done right, there really isn' that much difference in them other than the "Blackface modded " one is a touch louder. Although the person I bought it from also gave me the original speakers, he had put in a Eminence RW&B and a Texas Heat. I didn't like it at first, it was as loud as any Twin I'd ever played through. I put in Jensen P12Q's and it dropped significantly in volume and suits my needs better.

If I can provide more info on the date thing please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Here is something I use to date some Fender amps. Based on the serial number on the chassis. Found on the back right hand side, stamped into the metal. Will start with a letter A followed by 5 or 6 numbers. If your serial number is higher then A45000, use the second chart below. Hope this helps.

Deluxe Reverb AB763, AB868 (silverface)
A24000 to A26000 - 1967
A26000 to A28500 - 1968
A28500 to A33000 - 1969
A31000 to A33000 - 1970
A33000 to A34500 - 1971
A34500 to A37000 - 1972
A37000 to A39000 - 1973
A39000 to A42000 - 1974
A42000 to A43000 - 1975
A43000 to A45000 - 1976

A6 + 5-digits - 1976
A7 + 5-digits - 1977
A8 + 5-digits - 1978
A9 + 5-digits - 1979

That is a great article. Well according to his chart on the last page. Both of my Pro's #A20228 and #A20818 fall squarely in 1976.

I did read in my Fender Amps the First 50 Years where the next thing they did to the Pro was to add a mid knob to the reverb channel and a boost pull switch to the Master Volume knob. Mine are minus both. His chart ends at 1976 so I wonder if all these "improvements" were all done in 1976.

How goes it Gary?
We're still playing Red Neck Swingin' !
And has any harm come to you for playing such an artful piece??? Hope not. I'll have to follow it up on the next recording. Hey thanks again for playing it in your band!!!
