Prometheus DLX or Quasar DLX???

Guys, I need your expert opinion as I'm trying to decide which pedal to buy. Their features overlap somewhat so it's one or the other for me. I like the Quasar for its expression-controlled sweep and standard phasing. However, the Prometheus appears to do a better sample/hold, the feature I see myself using the most. Your help would be godsend.

I was in the same place, and decided to go with the Prometheus,
even though I was after a phaser.

From some demo vids, it did sound like the Prometheus could get some phasery sounds from it, while the Quasar didn't really have the ability to do most of the Prometheus' stuff.

Can't go wrong with either, IMO.

I just got a prometheus and am having great fun with it. Never been much of a phase guy.

If you need real phaser tones, it has to be the quasar. However, the Prometheus DLX can also get "kinda phaserish" tones, and it can do envelope filter / touch wah stuff, plus normal wah when you plug in an expression pedal.

check my Prometheus DLX demos:

I had the same thought, but wanted to hear someone else's. Thanks for sharing! By the way, I imagine getting an EQD Grand Orbiter if I go the Prometheus route so as to cover my filter and phaser needs. An Iron Ether Xerograph, if I pick the Quasar.

Which combination sounds more promising?

I have to say this, but I love your videos. I mean no other demos out there showcase the Fromel Shape and Barge Concepts VFB-1. I've watched those at least 56 times.

Just saw Demo II, and together with the Demo I, your Prometheus demos are the most well thought-out and thorough I can find.

+1, sascha!
I love your vids. Those Prometheus Dlx ones are amazing.
I'm trying to replicate quite a few tones from those vids.
Getting close.

@ GASaholic: I would say 85% :) The drawback: Univibes and Phasers are based on all pass filters, while the DLX is high, low or band pass. So with the DLX, it will be harder to find a setting that sounds good for both playing low and high notes. I normally use high pass mode for faux univibe stuff. You can set the DLX to get great vibe-ish tones when you play low notes, but if you play high notes the effect will be barely audible. Or you set it to get great vibe-ish tones on the high notes, than the effect will be a bit extreme on the low notes. Or you find an okay compromise setting :)

Thanks for that sascha.

The Subdecay stuff looks great and I am trying decide between these two (and now they they have released the kick-ass Spring Theory). The one which could best emulate a vibe would be the strong contender as it would save buying another pedal.

I would most probably be pulling the trigger on a Prometheus. Well, once I receive my Dr Scientist Frazz Dazzler, that is. (I live elsewhere in the world so pedals take a while to get to where I am.)

I really see myself making song parts with the dub/step-y sound you can coax out of the Prometheus.

By the way, I thought a Quasar or a Prometheus would cure my GAS for an Empress Phaser, but it really hasn't. Somehow I still think it is more musical. :huh At any rate, I will have to decide when I listen to/play with the Prometheus in person. Any thoughts?
