PRRI Reverb?

I know this is an old topic but I couldn't find a solution in the (deep) threads and got tired of looking.

So, the reverb on my PRRI sounds nice but too big and useless over 2.5 on the dial. Is there a solution? Is it the circuit or the tank? Please advise, thanks!

My solution is to keep the reverb set around 3, though I have read about people that modify the taper on the pot so that it is more gradual. Google PRRI modifications and you'll find way too much info for this simple guy!

I've read (at FenderGuru among others) that replacing the 12AT7 reverb driver tube with a 12AU7 will reduce the reverb effect so that you don't have too much at 3. Might be worth a try, but I haven't done it myself yet.

Isn't there some rat amps (?) mod that fixes that.

On the 68 CPR the reverb is useful from 1-10...

An AU7 will lower the reverb
PR's are I think the only Fender that uses one side of the PI to drive the reverb.

I have done this and it works well. It enables you to fine tune the reverb better. IMO, every PRRI owner should do this. It's cheap, easy and effective.
