Hi all, I’ve been offered a trade with an ‘07 PRS Custom 22 10 Top hardtail, Gray/Black.
Can anyone share their experiences with these? What’s the value on them? Thanks in advance.

I have 2008 custom 22 with trem and wide fat neck - totally love it !!! Supposedly the neck pickup sounds more vintage/warmer as it is slightly further apart from the bridge due to the loss of the 2 frets from a 24
Mine has the dragon 2 humbuckers which a lot of people flame but I love them - i am predominantly a strat player and it gives me a more "gibson" flavour of sounds - I have the McCarty style wiring which is a three way toggle and a tone that splits the humbuggies to singles - it sounds more tele like when split not stratty

I find I play more legato on it compared to the strat which has more fight to it - the action is lower and is faster

You will have to play it to see if you gel with it !!! The build quality is usually super high and the trem and the locking tuners work incredibly well - the bridge is super comfy for palm muting too

If you want a rock machine the custom 24 is likely more favoured while the 22 is more "vintagey"

I have no ideas on value in Aus as I am UK based - here they seem to go for circa £2,000 used and are now just over £3,000 new due to the weak currency we have !!!!

This one has Dragon 1’s installed with the McCarty controls.

double check, afik a 2007 will have dragon 2 from factory - if it has Dragon 1 pickups, you are in luck as they seem to get a lot of love - i have no issues with the dragon 2's though

Yes, all "10" tops are US, not all US models are "10" tops...

Here in the UK most PRS in stock in the shops are non-10 tops - 10 tops are usually priced significantly higher and are rarer - I had to special order mine as a 10 top back in 2008

Customs are fantastic guitars. I'm a big fan of the 22.

Prices would run anywhere from $1800-2500 depending on condition and color in my area.

What's are you considering trading away?

    .

If you have a Gibson to trade away then yes. Get that weak headstock outa here!
If you are trading off a Strat or a Tele then yes.

My favorite guitar, for many years now, has been a Custom 22.
I still like other guitars, but always use my CU22 for gigs, because it covers the most tonal territory, for me.

I have a 2009 that sounds like it is almost exactly the same as yours (10 top, black/grey, stop tail) with the exception of the pickups. Mine had HFS and VB.

The value on Cu22’s seems to be all over the place. I have seen them listed for anywhere between 1400 and 2200 on reverb and GC’s used site. If I were to list this one for sale I would probably start at around 1800.

It’s a great guitar. I thought about selling it recently and sat down with it and played for about 2 hours. I just couldn’t stand the thought of letting it go.

I have an 07 that had Dragon II's in it, loved the guitar, hated the pups, I put a set of 57/08's in it and has awesome vintage tones and is a great player. Wide Fat neck isn't very wide or fat in my opinion but it's a great playing neck, very comfy for me. Don't think Gibson fat neck when you consider a PRS W/F neck.
