Guys....is this an EG-2? In searching...I've found a whole lot of different (mostly pup configs), but similar models. I picked this one up last week, but am not quite sure which it is.

Any PRS experts able to help identify? Thanks a lot!

Looks like an EG3 to me...
Is the body made from alder or is it mahogany ?
    How's the neck joint ?

Hi silot. If I had to pick between the two, I'm say it's alder. Here's a shot of the back...

EG2 Terry (with two single coils & one splitable humbucker). EG3 has 3 single coil pups. Body is typically alder. I owned a couple of these along the way ;).

    Thanks, Vaughan!

I thought of you when I was playing that, cause it had such a nice strat sound. I knew you had some PRSi over the years and was wondering if you ever dabbled with one of these! :D

So far...It's a great guitar. I'm taking it for a setup today after work (I don't think it was ever setup  . I have to find a trem for it..and get a case. It fits pretty snuggly in my strat case, but there's a little real estate between the headstock and the end of the case. I threw some bubble wrap in there for the interim.

My #1 guitar is an EG. Highly underrated!

    From the mothership:

EG BOLT-ON SERIES I: 1990 – 1991. New squarer shape. Alder body, maple neck, 22-fret rosewood fretboard. EG3 s/s/s and EG4 s/s/h, scratchplate mounted pickups. Volume, twin tones, 5-way selector, PRS tremolo, Schaller non-locking tuners.
EG BOLT-ON SERIES II: 1992 - 1995. Rounder shape. Alder body, wide thin maple neck, 22-fret rosewood fretboard. Scratchplate mounted pickups in three formats, h/s/h, s/s/h, s/s/s, volume, tone, 5-way selector, coil taps, PRS tremolo, locking machines. EG bolt-on maple top adds three piece maple, ‘10’ option.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the Fralin domino pups are only found on Series II models.

It was those domino pups that threw me off when I was checking out the specs. I had seen regular single coils on a couple of FS ads, but wasn't sure if these were SC's or something more like a P90. I love the sound, although I haven't had much chance to bond with it yet.

so are you liking it? i traded guitars for an eg-3 with silot up there ^ (great to deal with), and i couldn't be happier. it was a bit of a shot in the dark, as i had only played one before, and that was for only a few minutes. but it feels pretty good to me, and i'm getting the setup where i like it, finally.

simply one of the best sounding guitars ever by PRS..
(I've owned 5 different models through the years...
& these Lindy Fralin equipped PRS's are just the dope..
Big STRAT sound.... very quacky, but huge...)
