On google this AM and didn't find much, but I don't have coffee either! But can't nail down any info on this PRS Korina McCarty Soapbar with the hollow bird inlays. Told there were only a few made. Pretty guitar, and light enough I can play it with a bad shoulder. If anyone has any info or past sale data, whatever, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

I had one of those a few years ago, one of the limited models with Braz fretboard. I paid 2k new and sold a few years later ~1600 IIRC.

$1600 is in the ballpark for a clean specimen with original case, etc.. That's about what I have invested in my '09. That said, mine has solid shell birds, Braz fingerboard, and upgrade intonatable bridge. By the looks of your photo, the one you're looking at has some serious fret wear.

Thanks RJLII. I have a bad shoulder and stick with either a SpinStrap on a 335 worn as a belt, or a tricked out 65 Gibson Melody Maker (just over 5 pounds) and rotate them depending on the shoulder. The PRS is 6.25 pounds, but I played for 45 mins in the store and was fine. Maybe it's ergonomics? Who knows - but I want to make sure I don't take a bath on resale if the marriage didn't work out. Really nice guitar though, and sounds like I am relatively safe on the resale end of things.

I decided to pull the trigger. Wired the money today. Thanks RJLII. So you still have yours? Hope so. I'll probably post some questions on 'er soon. One thing I noticed (it was only an hour of playing it so just initial impressions) was that it was very full-bodied with nice p90 sounds but the neck was a little round sounding, and might conceivably want something edgier in the future. But still will sit on it for at least a couple gigs.

I don't have a Korina but a McSoapy but I think the used price estimate above is in the ballpark from what I've seen. As to the "round" neck. There is a bit of that with the stock P90s on the guitar which are ceramic I think. I substituted some Lollar P90s which reduced that "roundness" a bit but the middle pickup and bridge settings on mine are plenty "sharp" so I think that 's ok for me.

Good score! I bought an '07 Korina McCarty a week ago. Love the weight (7lbs flat). Mine has humbuckers but is the same finish as yours. I'm loving mine. It cost less but it has moons instead of birds.

Congrats! FWIW, my Korina McCarty BRW Soapbar is one of the best sounding guitars I've ever owned. Amazing instruments, PRS really got that model right.

Thanks Serious Poo. I've got good feelings about it. Just waiting for them to get the check/wire before I can take 'er home. Are you OK with the stock pickups? I like the bridge but am not sure the neck has enough bite - although I only played it an hour in store, no gigs or rehearsals and not through my amp. Just curious. Also if you have a second, what other guitars do you (or anyone else on this thread) own and how does the PRS Soapbar Korina fit into the mix?
