congrats! that's beautiful. mine was listed here in the classifieds and on another site. i've played them a bunch at my local sam ash, they are great guitars.

my lady doesn't bother asking what i have or am getting or whatnot, and i don't really mind the fact that her shoes always look great. it's symbiotic and i like it that way. :D

also you can never have too many pics of ori up there. ^^^^

Poindexter is cool, but the young man with the spiffy Jaguar isn't? Only on TGP. :)

Who are the people in those pictures? Only the first one looks remotely cool.

Well I will stick to playing classical music on my PRS then.

+1000. If you make good music, hell even ****** music, it's cool if it gives you joy.

Wow...5 new pages in one day. Now lets start a new thread called "Tele Lost Its Cool: But it's still cool for country, old people and traditionalists who are afraid of change." Maybe that will keep TGPers busy...and 10 new pages in one day.

    :D

I'm sure there are tons of 13 year old girls who would agree with you. ;)

Personally, I'm into music not into how other men dress or style their hair lol.

    Somedude,

I'm having trouble following your argument about how something being marketable determines it's "coolness". I mean, isn't it just the opposite?

You keep using Metallica to make your point, which is ironic because they were so much cooler BEFORE they were marketable.

The original premise of this thread is that PRS sales are tapering off, and the reason given was that PRS isn't currently cool.

Cool in this sense (PRS sales/popularity) is a referal to whether it's popular or not from a mass market consumer point of view, which it clearly isn't.

Long story short, there's two types of cool. Cool for sheep who are only interested in following the herd (ie, iPod, iMac, iToothbrush, iGibson Les Paul, iWannaBeSlash etc). And cool for people who prefer to blaze their own path (whatever f*ckin' thing they want).

Blazing your own path is great (cause it's cool), but it doesn't sell guitars.... unless you become popular doing it (which makes you uncool to the minority while becoming ultra-cool to the sheep minded majority), in which case you can go get your ESP Signature guitar hang out with the dudes in Metallica.

Long story short, within the context of the original post Miley Cyrus using a PRS as a stage prop would do more for PRS' cool factor (ie; sales to sheep) than all the monster jazz hands in the world.

I still disagree - the OP's initial sentiment was that the bloom was off the rose, so to speak, with PRS. Something to the effect of the general consensus being that they're nothing special, no better than an Ibanez.

The thread has twisted around a bit, but I think me and you are disagreeing on what the definition of "cool" is. You've provided two examples. Look back over the past 50 some odd pages and you'll find as many definitions of what cool is. To me, guitars are inherently cool. Even more so when they piss people off!
