    inb4 doosey origin bashing.

Looks really cool! Might have to add that to my radar on guitars to check out.

Idk...I'd rather pay an extra $200 and get the arch top and flame maple back? There must be other cost cutting areas not readily visible to meet that price point?

I'm leery of buying one of those. I'd certainly take one at that price point, but what if it is a fake, or there is a problem with it? Then I have to deal with international shipping, a dealer on the other side of the world I know nothing about, etc, etc. Plus, I'd have to pay import duties. To many "what if's" for me.

*These are made in Korea and should be given away for nothing, no matter how well built.

That whole sellers page looks suspicious to me. I wouldn't risk it.

Even less than $200 (with shipping included!) for the first tier model if you go to Leih Instrumente in Germany, who appears to be a very reputable dealer:

    http://www.leihinstrumente.com/Guitars/Electric-Guitars/Duesenberg-Starplayer-TV-Black.html

No way i'd buy one in the US for over $2000 new...or $1359 for the step down model in Japan.

It looks very suspicious. Comes with a gig bag (not even a Duesenberg branded one) and the backs on those guitars aren't flamed maple...

Has anyone here ever bought from that place (Leih Instrumente) in Germany? Seems like a really reasonable way to get a Duesenberg for cheap.

I also am interested in buying one from this site. German websites in general seem pretty bland compared to the ones we have so maybe thats why it looks shoddy?

Turns out you often get burned when buying from them, as you usually have to pay import duties. At the end of the day, you can sometimes save a little loot, but I think you're probably better off buying used or from a local dealer. Of course, if you should happen to find yourself in Germany...

I kinda figured after a little sleuthing on a couple threads here. I wonder if ordering through Thomann(?) would improve the situation because they are such a big retailer, but I bet the outcome will be the same

I am considering ordering a Duesy from Thomann. If I end up doing it I'm sure I'll post a thread on my experience.

I do have to wonder: what makes Duesenberg guitars SO much more expensive in the US?

I got a Starplayer TV from them and it arrived two weeks later. The guy who handles US orders has good English too.

The customs thing isn't up to them, it's random spot checks coming in. I didn't have to pay anything, but I had budgeted for it just in case!

Man, if you got a Starplayer TV for that little, you got a serious deal.

    That's a more reasonable price.

There are no bargains there at all. His prices on older snare drums are beyond outrageous. Sick, in fact. Stay away from this site.
