    Hey guys,

If you could keep an eye out, we had a couple of guitars stolen from our church this week.

The first one is a Collings CJ Sunburst, looks basically just like this guitar:
Has a baggs PU installed w/ soundhole controls.

The second guitar was a McPherson 3.5, just like this one:
Also has PU w/ soundhole control.

Both guitars were taken from padlocked lockers with bolt-cutters & we're taken in their OHSC's from Lexington Kentucky.

I'll work on getting more info to you all as I get it, but if you happen to see anything fitting this description, if you could pass the info along it'd be appreciated.

    Not a fun day :/

That really sucks... Hopy you get your gear back and that they catch the loser that stole it from you.

It's someone in the church (most likely a colleague) that took them. Best of luck

Wow....kind of surprised a church would own a pair of $3000 acoustics. I guess too many people knew about their value.

Inside church job! How freakin low can you go? People have been stealing from church collections for years, so I guess nothing suprises me anymore.

    Thanks,

We've got the guy on tape, and it's no one we recognize - though he could've been tipped off.

He was definitely a 'semi-pro' at least - cased the whole place, poked around, came back with tools, cut the locks, etc...

Not smart enough to realize we have cameras...

The guitars are quite valuable - we wouldn't be able to have them if it wasn't for a well-off gear head who donated them, he's as good of a guy as you'll ever meet.

    Agree.

I thought the McPhersons were more like $5k though!

Might want to consider going a little more mid-market to dissuade future incidents.

    NO & here's why:
he said they were "donated" and you normally don't turn down donations, plus the guy donating gets a charitable tax deduction.

i am wondering if its worth while notifying area pawn shops and music stores to be on the look out. the dude must have targeted your church knowing something about guitars & their values.

OP and I are friends and attend church together. Willcutt is aware of all this, and we have a close connection with the manager of the local GC so I presume they know about it too. I teach locally and I'm putting out APB's to friends and colleagues.

We just appreciate any and all help you guys can provide with keeping an eye out with regards to any "great deals" that may appear on this two guitars. They're surely going to try fencing this stuff to a store or CL, etc. Thanks folks.

I heard about this in Chucks Music the other day. Jesse's brother is a guitar playing cop, so the words out.

I had a Taylor 714 stole from backstage while I was leading worship... sad that people will do that. I now own a Mcpherson that I never let out of my sight
