I'm always looking for crazy descriptors when naming my guitar-based instrumentals.

Hopefully this title is TGP enough to make the cut. :banana

I like that! The tune also fits the title and yes, I opened the thread because of the title.

Do you know who really wears tan pants?
The greatest generation to ever live, and the reason you don't speak German or Japanese.
So maybe a little respect is in order?
Those guys are almost all gone now.

So, yes! you nailed it in TGP fashion, your one of the Boys!

Are you suggesting there was any disrespect?

Um ... OP here, and I work in a healthcare facility - Medical Administrator for a medium sized group practice. I don't need to play guitar to get chicks -- because my office is 95% female! (J/K)

I wear tan pants once or twice a week, and on the other days I wear black, grey or navy. Unlike my psychologist, however, I REFUSE to wear tan socks and brown loafers with my tan pants! I am MUCH too cool to do that!!

Back to the song -- I used a G&L ASAT Classic, PRS SE Custom 24, Princeton Reverb, and Egnater Rebel 30.

    Rock on :rockin

Tan pants is in reference to the older members here as a rule, so yes, obvious disrespect.

I always think of my Grandfather and what He gave for all of our freedoms during WW2, and He wore the tan pants, would you ridicule my Granddad?

Burns my Ass, and I take it as disrespect, every time you immature guys throw that term around.
It's not 50yr olds that are dressed like that, it's our senior citizens, and they deserve nothing but the highest respect.

Is there a uniform for older people? I wonder why my father doesn't wear tan pants?

OP is a hospital worker, so he SAVES LIVES, show respect. ;) (please, understand I am joking).

I think it was a tongue firmly in cheek post, I don't think he intended any disrespect, and the tan pants thing had to do with a comment made by a police officer to a former member who was not a senior citizen.

    cool clip too.

Yes He does! You assume I'm old, but I'm not, I just get tired of the ease that many of you ridicule our elderly with, rather than showing them the respect that they deserve. Very pathetic, and child like!

Anyone here that denies that the tan pants reference on TGP is a slam on our elderly, is uninformed or in denial.
It may not be what it was originally referenced toward, but that's what it means on TGP, and we all know it.

Laughter is a good thing, thanks for this!

Is it possible you are so out in left field on this matter that you don't even know it?

Speaking for myself, and I suspect most on this forum, the reference is never about elderly war vets.

Enlighten me please, what is TGP definition when referring to the tan pants crowd?

I know its not about the WW2 vets, it just reminds me of that generation and I picture them dressed that way.

You won't convince me that it's not a derogatory label on TGP, but feel free to try.

That seems like an exercise in futility - I'll pass on the offer!
