I saw them last summer when they played in Brooklyn. Good show. Would have been better if they hadn't arrived during a brutal heatwave.

Saw them for the original line up reunion tour in the early 2000's. Noticeably different feel with Dave and Hugo than with Sara Lee...hard choice which I like better. Only recently learned that Dave Allen had been part of Apple's iTunes / Apple Music advisory staff along with Jimmy Iovine, Dr Dre, Trent Reznor etc.

60s-wise, they recorded a whole album of covers in the 80s under the name Naz Nomad and the Nightmares.

So they were part of the 80s garage revival in addition to being pioneers of both punk and goth.

My vinyl copy is signed by all of them as their Naz pseudonyms :D

Dave, Roman, and Bryn(RIP) also did the rockabilly thing with The Phantom Chords in the late 80s and early 90s. “Gothabilly” Rat Scabies referred to it as “Vanian’s easy listening project” lol. I really loved what they did though and were awesome live.

A friend of mine bought an Orange half stack 5-10 or so years ago in Seattle that had BOS spelled out with the bat band logo on the back of both. They had the goth horror thing going on at least at the same time if not before The Misfits.

I'll take them in *any* form. Although Jon King was pretty key.
One Webster Hall show was with Mark Heaney (awesome, but now gone) on Drums & Thomas McNeice on Bass (holds it down and still onboard). They played hard too... A buddy & I went out with them all until the sun came up after that show. 5:30 AM took em to a diner still pouring. Surreal.

Idk if I'd call that punk, but I really like it . Now looking into their other stuff in a different browser tab...

Edit: previous 2 albums - music is similar, her vocal reminds me more of Courtney Love and Hole on songs like Violet. But better. But def picking up a Gole vibe on the first records.

These guys seemed so post-punk, but this came out at about the same time as the Sex Pistols. Great stuff!

Wow, This is a great thread. However, why did it take 5 pages to land a Social D mention??

Unless I missed something, we are missing:

The Dickies, Vandals, Agent Orange and DI, amongst some others that I will have it dig up. This is what go me going in life as a suburban, blue collar catholic schoolboy in orange county. My parents hated this stuff more than Van Halen, and I served more than my fair share of detention (and received some swats) for listening to this....and was repeatedly told that I am going to hell.

    LOVE IT.
