Yeah, that's about how things would turn out. Just as quickly, too.

And that's nothing against the people on this board. It's our culture as a whole. People become emboldened when it comes to politics these days. Everyone believes that their side is on the right side of history, and the other side is a maniacal, evil force trying to hurt the world.

When it's "what color Les Paul is your favorite?" people tend to be more understanding of each other's differences.

Kind of like closing your umbrella while walking in a rainstorm because you are dry.

All I can say is: You don't want me on a forum with politics allowed.

(Some people even don't want me on a forum with music related things allowed.)

Politics is less the issue than peoples unwillingness to converse in a civil manner over things they disagree about.

I know. And that is precisely why you don't want to discuss politics with me, unless the rules are "pants down".

If I ran a forum, people that couldn't post without instigating friction would need to find new places to post. With your admission I'd put a big red flag next to your name and hope that there was no need to do anything more about it.
Walking into a forum should be no different than walking into any other arena of life and people should attempt to get along. The ones reacting need to be cautioned, but the ones starting things up need to be disallowed.

Why is that? See, I have already been honest enough to say that many people probably wouldn't want to discuss politics with me - let alone here at TGP.
And now that I've admitted this already (without being forced to do so or whatever), what makes you consider that red flag? Do you really think I'd start getting political up at TGP?

People should be able to say what they need to say without antagonizing others by making it personal. Doesn't matter anyway because I'm not a mod here, but when I am I try to allow everyone their voice without allowing any of the personal stuff. Get along, everything fine, don't get along, get help from the mods...

Since we're talking about fiction, and not the reality of the forum, or the topic of the thread, we should bow out here.

Personally, i'm not thinking "political" so much as "adversarial".

The difficulty with that statement is there are many who cannot receive the message without being offended or antagonized. What was said to them, regardless of the intent or tone of the message, is a personal affront. People have gotten to the point where when they hear or read something that they disagree with, they are offended or insulted. They can no longer differentiate between what they feel is wrong vs what they perceive is an attack.

Just like playing a guitar - tone is everything.
    Many don't get that.

This isn't about pushing the limits, but i'd like to see less animal abuse and despicable human threads.

We can get that by turning on the TV, smart phone or PC.
