I have a 68 Bassman head that has been voiced/biased pretty hot. It has this very aggressive dynamic tone.

In order to get it this way I plug a headphone adapter jack into the 2nd input of the normal channel (a dummy jack?) and plug my guitar into input 1 of the Bass channel.

The question is this; why does it sound so "open" when I do this? It sounds good with out doing this but not as present sounding. It sounds like there is nothing in the way dampening the tone, sounds like guitar > amp > speakers.

Does this take something out of the circuit?

    Thanks

ok so this plug opens this, and it changes the impedance....will that effect the load to the speakers?

Dunno about anyone else, but it always tickles me to see pictures of the inside of amps with all kinds of new Orange Drops, metal oxide, metal film, and carbon film resistors replacing older components parked next to 35 year old electrolytic cathode bypass caps :)
