IMO the AC-10 is a bit thinner-sounding than the AC-15, and rattier when pushed hard... but that might be because all the ones I can remember hearing have been 2x10"s with fairly cheap speakers... might be interesting to see what one sounds like with a decent 12". OTOH it also has smaller transformers and I just don't get the same impression of richness and chime that I do with the AC-15, even clean (yes, I am talking about vintage AC-15s not the modern amp).

I'm not familiar with that company at all but the board looks high quality.

    Just my opinion.

My candy panel tan AC10 compares very well with my JMI AC30 . I did get one mod - I had a resistor put in parallel to drop the input resistance on the vib channel (the one with the EF86) to 68K from 220K stock. 68K is what the AC30 and AC15 have, IIRC.

How does it sound? Amazing with a weber alnico blue pup. Tons of harmonics, chime and lots of gain so a HB guitar screams at over 3/4 volume on the vib channel. Strats sound heavenly and chimey. Picture a JMI AC30 with more gain but lower volume, of course. As well, where else are you going to get an EF86 AC30? AC30/4's are rare and huge $$$, and not all AC15's have the EF86 in them , and they're huge $$$ too.

The original speakers cakk when pushed hard so replace them.

So I would say if you can get one, do the mod and you'll be very pleased.

Frankly, it's my tone discovery of 2006.

    How did I miss this?
John is right. The AC15s I remember were in a different league to the AC10s (the Selmer "Little Giant" had much better tone for me, like a mini - Bluesbreaker). AC15s are great, listen to Mark Knopflers "Shangri La" - most of the clean Strat tones are an AC15.
If you find a great sounding AC10 I'd really like to hear it.

    Best, Pete.

    hmmmmmmmmmmmm...
wonder what it would be like to build the airtight board, and use something like mercury magnetics transformers....
I have an acquaintance in town who could probably make an AC-10 with a TB circuit.... that would be interesting as well....

    Thanks for the responses!

I am very close to ordering a 1X12 cab from the airtightgarage,
and posted a week or so back inquiring about experiences with them from members here. No responses.

I know Robert from the Airtight Garage well, and have played all his amp models and even bought Hoffman boards from him. Neat and tidy work and great tones all around. Glad to see his stuff mentioned on here, it deserves to be right up there with all the well known boutique guys. I'm waiting on a 1x12 cab from him myself!

I do not mean to bud in, but I do make an AC15 board also in the same
"style" as the other boards... it is just not up on the site. Sold it before
    I took pictures.

    Thanks.
