Where do you usually have your MASTER VOLUME control set?

Because I've been using my Mustang at low volumes, both on the gig and at home, I've been setting it pretty low.

MASTER turned up to no louder than "3" or so.

But last night I tried the amp with the MASTER on "10", thinking it might make the amp sound more like my old Fender amps with no master volume at all.

    And it did!

Of course none of my presets worked anymore because now they were all bone-crushingly loud.

(Boy this amp can get loud if you want it loud!)

But after lowering the GAIN and VOLUME controls the amp sounded really good to me.

I'm going to be doing some experimenting with this.

Try messing with the sag at the new settings. It may be super responsive.

    Will do.

BTW, where do you set your MASTER volume?

I haven't had the amp. I test for Fender and I tested the IV. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

The Mustang III I used to have sounded best and closest to vintage Fender amps with the master volume turned up.

No problem. Just gathering info. Every new thing I learn about this amp just makes me more impressed with it.

I think I said it before, but some of the effects are very good. The Leslie emulation is fabulous in the IV cause of the two speakers. But the three does the same slow speed,(which you rarely find). Try it in place of your chorus.

Lew, set up your presets with the master turned up, but not all the way just in case you need to turn up a little more when you play live with a band.

I just set the Master all the way up and use the volume control for the volume I want.

Where did you find the setting on sag that you liked best? Did you increase or decrease sag?

For jazz it's usually around 6 or 7, any higher and I start to get a sort of nasty digital grit. But keep in mind for that I'm using the "studio pre" amp model, so YMMV. For other stuff I had it lower, more around 5.
