I have a few questions for owners of the Ceriatone Overtone amp.

. Are all of the components top shelf or are there some that could be of a higher quality? If so, please explain.
. Anything you don't like about the amp?
. What changes or additions would you do if possible?
. Is the amp more than a one or two tick pony?
. If familiar with the other well know OD amps how does the Overtone stack up against them both good and bad?

I don't have this particular amp, but nik is very flexible with parts. If you don't mind waiting I'm sure Nik will wire it up any way you want.

Yes, components are of good quality.

    I don't like the FET input...not required.

I don't like the DIN plug because I can't find the proper male and cable for it...grrr. FET should be left out.

FAR, far more than a one trick pony. If you can tweak you will get even further mileage.

It holds it's own against all the standards but I do feel the circuit begs to be adjusted.

The stock version is a little less refined and when you dig in it really is a mean SOB. That's my take on it....in OD while playing normal it's Dumbleish...but dig in and you got a face full of "pissed off" Marshall. There's a hard edge that just pops out and if you are a dynamic player you can really use that in your expression. If you can't control it you're going to sound harsh and fatiguing. Joe Bonamassa might like this amp..sweet when holding back and almost brutal at full tilt...all within the range of your picking dynamics.

I think herein lies the problem with the concensus on the Overtone. Some outright say it's harsh while others experience something completely different. I'll wager a fun bet that the "harsh" group tend to play on the slightly more aggressive side.

    Just my 2 yen.....

I too am curious what anyone has done as far as swapping resistors/parts. PM me if neeed. The beauty of the hand-wired amps is they allow "tinkerers" to do their thang.

    Don't worry Soundhouse,,

I'm guessing Relicula is also a proponent of the "motion of the ocean" as opposed to the "size of the boat" rationale. Of couse it's only speculation on my part:BEER:rotflmao

Absolutely, Schofield is a monster. But I've been on the quest for just that sound for a long time, getting close, but I'm always drawn to using a little too much overdrive to get the fatness, and lose the clean tone. I've been close though, and am hoping that my Ceriatone will end the hunt. Which it better, cause I'm not buying any more amps.

Yeah right. Did I say that? :NUTS

    So, let's revise this thread.
Anyone do direct comps with Fuchs or TR stuff?
I have had both and like them, but an ODS will never be my #1 style amp, so sorta looking for a cheaper route like this Ceriatone.
    Anyone?

Why not get an ethos then?

Whole different hting, right? The topology of an actual amp is what I want I assume.

Well, if you get close to the tone you want for $400 what diff does it make?
