Just got my Quilter Mach 2 Eight today.

As soon as plugged it in there is a sort of a low volume whistle sort of noise sound coming from it, have turned everything to zero but its still there, is that normal?

Second point, have only had about 20mins on it, channel one sounds great, but switching to channel two seems about half the volume, plus there is no not much bass on channel two whatever way you turn the EQ it is quite treble based, again is that normal!

Need urgent response please as if faulty, will have to get onto retailer!

As I am in the UK this doesn't apply as I bought it from a USA Quilter dealer via Ebay, so would have to return to them. Plus I need to be sure this is not something normal in how the amp is, before advising the dealer for it to be shipped back to USA!

Can anyone advise who has has got this actual model please. Thanks

Funny, I know it's a SS amp, but it sounds like a tube issue.

Have just unplugged the speaker and the sound is still there. To try and describe it, its like a very low noise radio sound when your not tuned into a radio channel!

So is that normal or not? I thought it should be totally silent if the speaker is not plugged in, or does the amp make a slight noise anyway when its switched on?

I had been thinking about importing a Quilter, but this makes me think I should wait and see if they get a UK dealer.

Sorry to say Mike, but you will need to return that to your dealer. It is a defective unit.

Yep definitely a return. To get any noise at all out of my Mach 2 I have to get crazy & dime the gain and boost. Other than that it's quiet as a church mouse.

I love the amp, sounds great but obviously will now have to arrange for the amp to be returned which is a real pain, as this is now the second one that I have had that has been faulty!

Plus, whilst I do want a replacement, am now a bit concerned that the same may happen again!

"Things Happen" to every amp, I'd not be concerned unless the next was the same.

I just ordered a MP 200 8", as I'd like to get some jazz tones and run my acoustic. Made sure that the seller has a liberal return policy just in case.

Two :idea Very strange. These amps are built like a tank. I would almost think there is something strange with your surroundings Power?
