    I heard this news yesterday and it kind of ruined my day. Billy has always stuck out on records to me. One of the kings of tone.

    Love his playing on Speedy West's "Guitar Spectacular", one of my favorite records. I also have one or 2 of his own. RIP.

    He first appeared on my radar in the '90s, during a brief craze for '50s & '60s instrumental music, altho' he did TONS of sessions, and we've probably all heard him without realizing it - I'm gonna go dig out the compilation I bought at the time

    Great musician, and cool guitarist. R.I.P. Billy - Heaven's house band just got a little *Stranger* today..

    I remember his stuff. Thought his name was, well, you know---strange.
