Rack delay/reverb vs. Pedal with long-ass cables to the FX loop?

First off, just bought a Mesa Roadster Head...looking for one unit that does delay and reverb well and won't break the bank.....what do you think or have experience with?...Thinking TC G-major II......second......Rack and buy a switcher or .....Pedal ran back to loop (i.e. - Eventide TF).....seems like a pain to run 2 long ass cords back to the loop...then again, have to buy a switcher for rack....

I'm going from an RP1000 back to an amp and pedals for most gigs. I'm doing the same by using the rack (Quadraverb) for delays, reverb, phaser, and chorus.

I really like the sound of the Quad's chorus and phaser....otherwise I was going to get the TC G-Major 2...good choice there.

I already have a MIDI switcher so no more $$$ is spent for me. I didn't want to introduce MORE cable length back to the pedal board. The pedals are for drive and wah only.

Be sure your Mesa has a series effects loop (or have it converted) because the parallel loop will make some of your effects sound weird.

I'd try a used Rocktron Intellifex first. Great delays and reverbs and you can get them so cheap on e-Bay you will have plenty left over to buy a nice midi controller. I have a Mesa MK IV and the Intellifex has been bullet proof for years and still sounds great.

MIDI cable for the rack isn't "in" the signal...just a thought.

You might also consider PedalSnake products, I've used them, very nice.

FWIW, I use a Rocktron Intellifex w/a Tech21 MIDI-Mouse. Beats any of the pedals I've owned for what I need.

I use an original issue "blackface" Intellifex, like this:

I prefer the older models as well. I have an Intellifex LTD from the mid-90s. I'm not sure if the later "on-line" versions were as good as these older models. It often seems like the older gear was built really well and these older Intellifex units have certainly stood the test of time.

I also have a Rocktron Repliflex from the late 90s but it may be more than you need if reverbs and delays are just what you want. Lots of interesting preset combinations.
