Recommend me a rack unit specifically designed for guitar. Not the TC G major or in that price range, but a high end classic, even if an oldie but goodie. Eventide? Around 1k used at most.

TC Electronic G-FORCE (not G-Major which was it's cheap little brother), is excellent.

Most of the high end classics I can think of were not specifically made for guitar, but were used by many professional guitarists in their day:
    • Yamaha SPX990/1000 or SPX2000 (you can get a used SPX2000 for around $500 and it's new enough to have a PC-based editing tool and high-end converters at 24/96)
    • Lexicon PCM70/81 or later
    • Ensoniq DP-2 or DP-4 (I used to own a DP-2 and although it lacked an intelligent pitch shifter it was the best in every other regard).
    • Rocktron Prophesy?

The Lexicon MPX-G2 was designed for guitar, $250 to $500 used.
The MPX-1 can be had for $100 to $250.
