Rack mounting gear

    I'm setting up my recording stuff. I have to build a custom rack space for my patch bay. I've got the patch bay and a rack shelf. Since it is a custom set up, I'm not using the typical road case or stand alone case.

    What is the name of the piece that goes behind the 'ears' of the unit/rack shelf, where the bolts actually tighten into?

    That part of the rack is called the rack "rail". Sometimes those are
    punched for captive nuts, and sometimes they are tapped for screws.
