Does this make you feel old?!

The tragic thing is that he was around for such a short time we never really got to see what he could really offer.

    RIP RR!

Still makes me sad to this day. I remember it being a Friday night and going to Johnny Z's Rock and Roll Heaven Store at the Route 18 Flea Market. He was the one who told me Randy died. In some ways it seems like yesterday...

Vividly remember hearing Crazy Train on the radio for the first time back in the fall of 1981.

Hard to believe. Is his mom still around? I recall he mentioned her in all his interviews; I think they had a music store.

i believe his mom passed away a few years ago, she was in her 90s.
hard to believe he would have been 60. I was listening to Tribute a few days ago, thinking how good that album is and sounds...and thought how much music
has changed since he's been gone. His brief career was truly brilliant, he left us some great stuff....sad....

One of the best. His solo in Goodbye to Romance will always be my alltime favorite guitar solo. Memory eternal.

He had a real gift. One of my favorites. Blizzard of Oz blew me away when it came out, sort of like hearing VH for the first time.
I liked reading that when on tour, Randy would sometimes seek out private lessons.

Ace was the guy who made me want to play guitar, but Randy was the guy who made me want to practice my ass off and play as well as i could. He also got me interested in classical music.

Yes Randy's Mom just passed away. There is a Youtube video where one of the guys from Tesla goes and visits her and I believe she allowed him to play his guitar.... He was one of a kind and I was lucky to have seen him 3 times.

Kelly Garni's book is a good (if long) read about him and Randy Growing up... Rudy Sarzo's book is great as well. It is in a quasi-diary format...

She wasn't too bad back in the day and not married to Ozzy yet.

I shudder to think of what Randy would think about her replacing Daisley's and Kerslake's parts so they don't get as many royalties.
