"100 Yard Dash" is a happening tune:
love me some raphael saadiq. the new album is great. much less r&b, more soul.
AND he's a riDICulous bass player... Check this out:
Not a bad lead guitar player either... It's The Gear Page's own Josh Smith (Guitarzan).
Awesome artist. Gotta love that 60's and early 70's soul vibe.

Just ordered his latest disc. Love the 100 Yard Dash song. I really hope that the R'n'B movement continues to go in that old school soul direction.
Saw him a few years ago at North Sea Jazz. very cool show! like his music
Very cool retro sound. I thought he was a really young guy with that voice, but he's a bit older. Good stuff.
Y'all know he played bass and guitar on, and wrote, D'Angelo's "Untitled (How Does It Feel)," right?
The bassline on the D'Angelo track is sick.
Saadiq plays on some great records.
Man is a monster...
not to hijack, but Victor Broden played some great bass stuff on D'Angelo music as well.. "I found my smile again"...killer!
Absolutely true. I'm also glad to see him getting more direct "face time" with his music again.
Cool find for me. I turned my 12 year old daughter onto him.........I love the whole oldschool R&B vibe with the shiny sparkly modern production........Really emphasizes space...
That Artist's Den show with Raphael is on at midnight tonight in the Bay Area, it's on PBS (KTEH).
I am diggin' his stuff!
Love his work with D'Angelo (especially "Lady"), but I haven't heard any album of his since Toni Tone Tony (sp? ). I'll have to check it out.
