I need some fretwork done on my #1 tele with a compound 7.25-9.5 radius. I'm looking at a refret or crown and level. I know this isn't the easiest job since its a compound radius so I'm looking for recommendations on who you guys think does the best fretwork in town.

    Thanks J

    Billy O'Reilly, B&D Guitar Repair, 623.388.8891

Billy's done six stainless refrets for me, all flawlessly executed. Can't recommend him highly enough.

Not exactly 'in town' but if you can make it to Tucson the guys at Rainbow are great. I've taken many a guitar to them and they still blow me away each time I go in to pick 'em up.

You might also call Donnie Windham at Haymaker Guitars -- Roberto-Venn grad, wicked nice guy, affordable. He did great fretwork on my lead guitarist's vintage D-28 and has done all my repairs, setups, and upgrades since last year.

Plus he's got a convenient shop location right downtown.

I agree. Don was one of my Instructors while I was at Roberto-Venn. Definitely an awesome guy.

For that matter, any of the longtime R-V instructors like Kris Olsen, John Reuter, or Joe Vallee would be good options.

Rush at Buchanan's Music in Mesa is a great tech IMHO. He does great work for a fair price and is very fast.

Donny is great. He has done several setups for me but I've never had him do any fretwork.

I've had good experience with Rush.

You could also give TGPs own Sweetfinger a call or send him a PM. I recently had a good experience at (as his signature says) "Precision Guitar, a semi-secret above ground research laboratory and adult day-care center. We also fix guitars."
