I have played my Bambino out at a few shows. Never had any expectation for using this amp outside the home and studio, didn't think it would be loud enough, but it really works nicely. Each time I have used it I have just set it to a nice "cleanish" sound using the bright channel. That and an overdrive really sounds great. Wouldn't replace my Marshall, but didn't expect or hope that it would.

I am trying to get a handle on the Stack Mode with my Les Paul. The controls are so interactive, I find I spend more time twisting knobs than playing. You can get such a variety of overdriven tones. Adjusting the treble (which also effects the upper mids), Bass (which when dimed scoops the mids ), and master volume can drastically alter the tone. One day I love the Bass all the way up (mid scoop, which is compensated by the upper mids of the treble so it doesn't really sound scooped), and then the next I think the Les Paul sounds best with the bass down and more mids. Anyone use this amp with a Les Paul and would like to share what they have found or learned with this amp?

I use it with the tone stack volume always maxed out so it's like a non-master volume amp. I have the normal channel vol at 6 (not hand clock) and bright channel at 8.

If I want clean tone, I footswitch to the normal channel and turn down guitar volume to taste. If I want light gain/rhythm, I'm on the bright channel.

If I want mid-gain/overdriven lead or rhythm, I footswitch to the tone stack.

The bright channel bass is always on 3, treble at 8. Tone knob on the normal is on 10.

And I use a boss reverb pedal on the fx loop and it is velcro'ed inside-rear of the cab, cover off there's enough room there.

I played a combo and a Grande head in a store in Nashville. I liked the amp a lot. I'm getting the Grande head and will be playing it with a Les Paul style guitar.

As to what you are experiencing.... I do that as well with most heads I have. I think your ear and tastes can change from time to time. I think it's normal.

How is it working for you at Bedroom Levels??

Or was that hype?

Im on the fence with

- Reason Bambino

-Egnater Tweaker or Reb 20/30

- Badger 18 (rather pricey)

When I demoed the Bambino combo I thought it gave good tone at lower volumes but it depends on what you call bedroom levels. If it's loud TV level.... it was alright and anything below that was not terrible but not "OMG I can't believe I get a tone like this level" either. Personally at that those levels I'd use the line out to studio monitors or use the headphone jack and would think you would get better results.

2W with a regular guitar speaker will be too loud for bedroom levels. However you can get this:
http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-EMI-RM-LIST

And turn it down to maximum attenuation/least efficient and get that "bedroom level" which to my ears I can barely hear. But using the same speaker, turn to 8W mode, crank the speaker to minimum attenuation/max efficiency and it could still be loud enough for a small gig.

With an LP in stack mode for distorted sounds I like the following:

Normal Channel:

vol - pull thick - 6 to 8
tone - 7

Bright Channel:

vol - pull bright - 7 to 8
treb - 7
bass - 5

It's a very versatile amp.

Well, my bedroom levels may not be yours, but at 2 watts I am plenty happy with it. 8 watts is still way loud for my house.

Is this with a combo or cab?

Interesting that no one is using the "mid scoop" function. The sample settings you can download from Reason use it quite a bit. Again, I am not sure if those settings are with a combo or cab?

it has 2 real power output tubes. good enough for me.
I had the amp for a little bit. Loved it. It's the perfect little bedroom gig amp.
The channel/cascading is genius.

It sure is. Do you move the master around. Where the master is set to also greatly effects the eq. As it does with any amp.

I have the head and I use it with a 3/4 back Mesa 1x12 cab with Weber Greenback, pre-Rola doped. It's the sound of classic hard rock! It's the tone of the Song Remains The Same album.

That mid-scoop **** I don't use. You get drowned out in a band mix. I didn't find any of the settings given in the manual to be useful for me.

I tend to use stack mode more with single coils and use the bright channel for my humbucking guitars. Stack really thickens up the too-often-thin single coils, but I don't really need it for my low-gain tones with humbuckers. I get a nice, fat sound with just the one channel.

One of the great things about the Bambino is that it sounds as good in 2-watt mode as it does in 8-watt mode. At home, I stay in 2... in bigger rooms, I bump it up to 8. Bedroom volumes? Not a big deal to me, I have my own practice space and no one cares until the walls shake.

I tend to also gravity to the bright channel with the L.P. That and an overdrive and I am plenty satisfied. Almost seems sacrilegious however to use a pedal with an amp that has such a variety of tones at ones disposal.

So you will know what my ears are used to hearing. My main guitar amp set up is my Les Paul through a Marshall 2204 and cab loaded with Vintage 30's and Scumback H75's. So, I am used to hearing mids in my tone.

That being said, I find that when I use the Les Paul into the Bambino with my cab, I don't like using the mid scoop option in Stack Mode. But, using the Bambino as a combo the mid scoop is my preference in Stack Mode. The amp and Les Paul are plenty "middy" on there own, and the mid scoop option really works nicely.
