Looks like I`m coming into an R6 with Lollars ...
    Just curious.
If I decide to go back to the the original Historic series P90`s ..Are they a cut above what Gibson puts on their other P90 models?
... LP tribute for ex. ?
Is there a ceramic vs alnico thing going on with the P90`s too?
How can I tell the difference between a CS P90 and a regular one (IF there is a difference) ?
    thanks

Wolfetones are pretty nice. I had a set of Mean and Meaners until I went vintage.

I know for a fact that there is only one Gibson P-90 being made today...no matter if you have a $300 faded SG with P-90's or a VOS R6...same pickups.

There is also no neck or bridge, they all read around 8k give or take a few ticks.

The only difference is the baseplate mount and cover for dogear vs soapbar.

I have an R6 and yes, the neck and bridge are same wind, which means the neck is significantly louder the bridge.

The one difference are the redesigned dogear P90s in the new '59 RI ES-330. They measure about 7K, A2 and have plated baseplates. They are a good bit brighter sounding than the stock gibson P90s. Now if gibson would put that in the front position of all guitars and their 8K in back .............

If those P90's don't do it for you, get a hold of Rick at Dr. Vintage. His Wrap Tail set is absolutely amazing. I picked up one of the 60's Tributes and swapped out the controls and pickups with Rick's and I couldn't be happier.

Are Epiphone P90s the same as Gibson P90s?

Not to derail the thread, but I'd say it's related seeing as how Gibson owns Epiphone.
