I have been really getting into playing on my Yamaha DTX kit, and I'd like to go MIDI out to VSTi that will allow me to use my own sample library. The key factor is that money is an object.

Any recommendations? I'm am looking to record my own MIDI drum tracks and would like to do it in "real time, " if possible.

I use NI Battery 4 and EZ Drummer 2 and I know Battery will do that easily. Battery can get pretty deep, lots of layering, mangling, processing, routing, etc available. Very customizable (if that is a word).

Haven't gotten that dep into EZ Drummer yet. It's a quick and dirty songwriting tool which is actually pretty good, I bought a couple of different sample libraries/kits for it but am thinking no on the importing.

Sampletank has a free or very cheap version that should do it as well.

I am on Mac but I think most drum programs will do it these days. I bet if you looked you might even find some shareware or free stuff. K-V-R is a sample VI type forum, and Gearslutz will have good info too, I bet.

I second Battery 4 - it's designed for what you're looking to do.
