I have a guitar that has 3 P90s in it and I want to replace the bridge P90 with a humbucker, something fairly hot. I've searched a bit and have found plenty of threads where folks are looking for a humbucker sized P90, but not so much the other way 'round.

So, what humbuckers are out there that are good and would be a drop-in replacement for a bridge P90?

I have no personal experience with these, but Dimarzio makes several different P90 sized hums.

Yep, I've seen the DiMarzio ones, but haven't really seen any alternatives to them. Shoulda mentioned that in my initial post...

Dimarzio does make some P90 sized humbuckers. I've tried the tone zone, and it did not impress me at all.

Instead of trying out multiple ones and wasting money, your best bet is to just cal up the Duncan custom Shop. They'll put any of their humbuckers under neath a P90 cover for you for about $160.

Really? I had no idea. That may certainly be an option, thanks!

Any of the TV Jones pickups can come in a P90 soapbar format. His Powertrons are more PAF sounding and he makes a plus version that has more output. The pickups have excellent clarity and I like them a lot in the bridge position. They are very good at describing the tone of their pickups so if you call them they can tell you what might be right for you.

I had a tele with two of the Dimarzio P90 sized buckers a few years back. Not bad pickups, but I like the Jones stuff a lot better - just more musical to my ears.

TV Jones, cool. That's one I have no experience with, I'll give 'em a look. Thanks!

Lollar minihumbuckers are my favorite pickups.
The split coil sounds are especially sweet.

    just my 2 cents.....

I have some DiMarzio DLX Plus pups in my L.P. DeLuxe. They're pretty hot, and don't quite have the low-end beef of a full-sized humbucker. They're a little tighter in the bottom, but still have a nice grind.

Good suggestions, thanks folks. Right now I'm leaning towards the Vintage Vibe pup - those babies looks like just the ticket.

Those are surprisingly nice sounding pickups. I was going to suggest them as well.

The mini-buckers in the old Les Paul Deluxes used cut-out P-90 covers for mounts. So you could make your own fairly easily...

    I looked up the Mean 90, says that it's a humbucker sized P90. I'm after a P90 sized humbucker...

I need to look into the DiMarzio DLX Plus as well.

    Thanks guys!
