I'm looking for a small (MXR-sized), inexpensive compressor for a travel board. I used to own a RI Dynacomp but thought it was a bit too noisy. I use a Tonepress on my big board but am trying to conserve space on the smaller board.

    Any suggestions?

Ideally looking to spend no more than $100 if possible.

How about modded Dyna Comps - are there any good mods?

How about the BYOC offerings? The EH Nano Soul Preacher?

+1 on the BYOC. The 5 knob compressor is the same as the Keeley compressor, with one extra knob. I think they are about $135.

I found a Nano Soul Preacher for a good price locally - any thoughts on this pedal?

+1 on the Guyatone. Not the best on the market, but the smallest for sure. Decent pedal for the $.

I'll be posting a review of the Humphrey-modded CS-3 soon. You might find these used on the 'bay for $100 or so. Simply the finest compressor I've used to date - and that includes most of the heralded compressors chatted about here.

And this is coming from a player that typically avoids Boss pedals!

Another +1 on the ST2. Great little compressor and the blend control allows you to add some dry signal to the effected signal and so make the compression more subtle.

I am interested in the CMATMODS stuff, but for that price, I could also buy a Keeley and for a bit more a Bi-comp - I am really trying to stay under $100. This is for a board that I will travel with and want relatively inexpensive, easily replaced, reliable and great sounding stuff - not too much to ask, right?

For under $100, your selection is pretty limited IMO.

    Dyna comp + mod
    BYOC
    Soul Preacher
    BBE Opto Comp

These are all sub $100 - any reviews?

Nano Soul Preacher sounds great at the PGS video demos. Cheap too.

The BYOC is only under $100 if you build it yourself...Not everyone knows how to solder (including me...well, that and I'm lazy!), so I prefer to buy them pre-built for a few bucks more...I really liked the BYOC. It is especially useful with the 'clean blend' knob so you can dial out noise and squash. It's probably better for single coils though...
