It is time to buy some El-84s (set of 4) for my UG30. I will probably go with Ei. I am in VA. Can somebody recommend a dealer for me? Internet or local is fine.
    Thanks,
    Paul

The best tube dealer I have dealt with is:

    http://kcanostubes.com/content/estore_list.asp?category=87&catname=EL84

I've used Eurotubes too and Bob is a great dealer. He just doesn't have a variety nor the tubes of the good old days which I prefer.

    A little story,

I needed a new pair of 8417 tubes for one of my old Sanos. These tubes are somewhat rare, especially those made by Sylvania which are more stout and 8417 are known for running hot and the Sylvanias are the most stout and last the longest. Well Mike at KCA had them but what was even more cool is that I was on a business trip from Reno to Las Vegas and when I got off the plane in Vegas, Mike had been trying to call me on my cell phone to take my payment and get my shipping address. I had requested a two day delivery but had to leave him a message because I called after hours when I first contacted him about these tubes. He was cool enough to try and hunt me down by my cell phone so that he could get those tubes shipped out that day. That to me is awesome service. He has my tube business for as long as I am buying tubes that desevre world class care and top notch matching and testing. All my amps deserve the best and Mike delivers.

P.S I JUST bought a matched quad of original 1970's Tesla EL84 just a few minutes ago from KCA. I sure hope that wasn't the last quad he had or I'd feel terrible ;)

    Thanks Reeek,
I will check out KCA NOS Tubes. They are in my backyard, so to speak.
    Thanks,
    Paul

Reeek helped me with a tube configuration Choice for one of my amps. And Mike at KCA NOS Tubes supplied the tubes. E-mailed him on a Sunday and he took the time to answer with recommendations and pricing immediately.

The above quote from REEEK says it all.

When it comes to EL84's you may want to contact this guy:

    http://tubetramp.com/

Lot's of other tubes also, but EL84's are kind of specialty for him.

OK ,unpopular Im sure but I prefer Sovtek EL84M's. Much more headroom than any other 84 Ive tried and since PTD isnt my bag I like em best. All the others especially JJ's got way too compressed very early for my tastes.:)

+1 from my (several) positive experiences with Doug Preston.

Also, the guys at Zeitmann Tubes often sell their excellent Tungsram EL84s as quads on eBay (look for "zeitmann" as seller). Highly recommended tubes and trustworthy (and thorough) sellers!!

I've bought from him in the past too. It was a good transaction. I bought a bevy of Valvo 12AX7's.
