I am just looking for something simple. I don't use phase a lot but, I have been without one for a while now and want a phase back on my board. I have looked at the EHX small stone, MXR phase 90, and some others. Not too concerned about price. Any input would be nice. Thanks.

    Rolls RFX920 PhaseO'Vibe.

    It's a phase and a vibrato; sounds like a phase 90.

    cheap and sounds good.

I really like the old analog Boss PH-1R.

I love my moog, but subdecay has one of the best I've ever heard!

  9. If you want simplicity, then go with the Retro Sonic.
Go to proguitarshop.com and check out their videos for all their phasers.
    THAT should help you decide.
Personally, i've settled on the t.c. Electronic TCXII Phaser.
The Maxon Rotary Phaser gets a lot of support around here, but i think the t.c. sounds better and is more versatile.

I've had the RetroSonic, Mad Professor, Moog, Fazedellic, Phase Royal, and I kept the Maxon Ph350. That's just my opinion, so read as many threads on you can and try 'em for yourself.

+1 on the PH-350. Incredibly versatile and almost impossible to get a bad sound out of it.

I'm still very much in love with the MXR EVH Phase 90. The script mode makes it subtle for ya, and otherwise it's super lush and swirly. I'm also highly impressed with the Boss PH-3 I picked up. Very surprised that both of those phasers ended up being as good as they are. The only real complaint I could think of with either is the fact that they're not true bypass, which doesn't bother me (some also say the Boss sounds too digital, but that doesn't bother me). A lot of good suggestions though, so have fun looking up all the clips and trying them out for yourself!

I'll do another +1 on the PH-350 if you wanted one all-purpose phaser.

However, I prefer my Red Witch Moon Phase + Sobbat Phase Breaker II. The Red Witch can get Uni-Vibe-ish and do a good approximation of the PH-350's lower-stage settings. It's also godly fun on cleans. The Sobbat takes you on a swooshy roller coaster that the PH-350 and Red Witch can't, although it sounds nothing like a vibe and doesn't have the clean shimmer of the Witch.

I don't disagree with Ben, but the Sobbat does have two phase settings (one seems to have more resonance than the other) and a JAG control which seems to alter the peak of the waveform a little (or maybe me ears are hearing a change in the accented frequencies, really not sure). So it can get "shimmery." The Moon Phaser, however, is lush like I've never heard and some folks have said it is too subtle.

I like the Sobbat and it is on my board, but the Retro-Sonice, PH350, Moon Phaser and Diamond Phaser are worth looking at, IMO.

Regardless of which you go for, a feature I would look for is a depth knob or any knob that can reduce the level of the effect. So you can have a touch of phase to full on phase. To me that is an essential element.
