BOSS DM-2
BOSS DM-3
MXR Carbon Copy
Ibanez AD-80
Maxon AD9

all excellent.

Replace the MXR with a 616 and I would completely agree. If my vintage AD-9 had more delay time it would never leave my board.

there's a beauty to the short 300 ms delays though. thats why I have a DM-2, AD-80 on my board as well as a Carbon Copy and an AD-999 for the long ones.

Tap tempo can take a hike... :D

Malekko Echo 600 Dark. ....I just recently aquired another (thanks to pwrightmd) after selling 2 and having 1 stolen. I have tried the 616, aqua puss original and reissue, multiple dm2's, ad80, and a carbon copy.

And in my opinion the E600 Dark is the best....exp pedal control, tb/buffered bypass switch, 600ms of awesome sounding delay in a small cool looking box. And if you like it can do some pretty wild self oscillation spaceship stuffs. I could not be happier to have finally have one of these back in my rig. The ad-80 would be my second choice as far as overall tone.

Agree. Boss DM-2 being my number one pick.

If you're looking for a small, straight forward, indestructible, and beautiful sounding analog delay, nothing beats a DM-2.

For best results search around for an early one built with the mn3005 BBD chip and make sure no one has fiddled with the internal trim pots. Also be sure to run it at 12V unregulated by using an old Boss ACA adapter (or a PP2+ switched to the 12V ACA setting), otherwise the pedal won't function exactly as it should.

which AD-80 did you try? the re-issue is a nice pedal, but the old school big box 18volt is something else. pretty pricey these days. worth it though if you love a nice 300ms

I had an old first edition? The one with original style enclosure it ran off of 2 9 volts and had the mn3005. It sounded amazing and I would like to het another but I like the E600 dark just a hair more because I love the sound, the extra delay time and the other additional features. The original ad80 is definately my second favorite for small analog delay....what a kick ass sound.

I have been patiently waiting for the Malekko 919 in hopes that it would be voiced like the old E600s with all the added awesome features. It would be my delay...BUT it looks like that pedal is never gonna happen. The Malekko 616 was a good sounding unit but IMO not even in the same league soundwise as the E600s or the original ad80.

I would say if the OP has the cash get an original Ad80 and an E600 try them both and keep the one that you like the best. Whichever one you decide not to keep should sell pretty easily so there is not too much risk of losing money if you should decide to try both. Hope this helped out a little.
