I have his 1976 self-titled album, his work with Joni and some of his work with Weather Report, but I'm really interested in getting my hands on stuff like:

Anything he ever played on, period.

I can't think of anything bad.

I second that - pick up Pat Metheny's "Bright Size Life". If there are any boots from this trio playing around the Boston area around '74 or '75 or so, grab 'em!

Bump! Thanks all. Got the recommendations I asked for, but Jaco needs more love on TGP. :beer
I've got everything by Joni, so Hejira is covered. Mingus kicks ass too. :) Will check out Bright Size Life and the Birthday Concert next.

Off the top of my head wasn't he on a album called trio of doom where they recorded it live in Cuba.

I'd add the live Weather Report record "8:30" - brilliant all 'round.
Jaco grooves his butt off on one tune of Al DiMeola's 1st solo record ("Golden Dawn: Suite" from 'Land of the Midnight Sun').

Cheers! I'm thinking live Jaco is where I'm heading. Lots of stuff to catch up on.

That's what I'm talking about! So damn good. Truly beautiful stuff.

If you don't have the JACO anthology you have to get it NOW!!!! It has all of these awesome stories between songs told by the people they involved. Including jaco on drums, his first recording of the chicken, all instruments played by jaco including sax, jaco practicing on upright bass, it's just killer! Listen with headphones it's the best that way!

For now find little beaver and Jaco's song "I can dig it baby" you can thank me later ;)

Jaco's kids are cool, too. Carrying on the tradition. I don't see much of them since their mom passed.
