I have a G&L Legacy which is currently equipped with Fender CS Fat 50's-set. I like how they sound.
But, I hate the vintage-stagger on the Legacy's 12" radius neck. The G-string overpowers other strings and in live situation the high E gets burried no matter what I do. I pushed the polepieces on G down, that helped some but didn't take all the problems away.

So, I'm looking for something that sounds as good or better than the Fat 50's but with modern stagger (doesn't need to be flat poles). Traditional strat tone.

Tonewise I love Doyle Bramhall II's tone and I mainly use my NKT275 Sun Face and the KOT and DLS MK3.

    Any suggestions?

You can push the D and G magnets down a bit on your current pickups. Just google it, easy to do. Do not try it on any other magnets or you will destroy the pickup.

An new set of G&L Alnico set sounds really good and has basically flat pole pieces.

Lollar has a lot of great Strat options, all avail in flat poles as well.

Are they sold as a standalone set? Can't seem to find them anywhere. They are on the EJ sig strat but don't see them standalone. :/

Maybe a set of Lollar flatpole Blackface. Sorry about the oversight on original post.

    No problem K-Line!

    Those Lollars seem compelling.

Anyone have used Suhr MF Classic's?

I'll second the lollar blackface. I really like the fat 50's but those blackface are real close, and maybe even better. Great sounding, warm, makes chords sound so great pickups. After playing a strat with the blackface, I grabbed another strat that had fralins on it. Very dissapointing compared to the blackface...

Email Mick Brierley in Australia and talk to him about exactly what you want. He can custom wind for you. Fantastic pickups and you can exploit the good Euro / Aust Dollar exchange rate.
