I've never recorded a guitar with a ribbon mic before and I'm wondering about what the back side of the mic records.
Is everything coming in the back side out of phase with the front?
Should the back side be blocked from reflections?
If you are in a nice sounding room, does the back side add to the depth of the track?

    Thanks in advance....:aok

If you're close mic'ing a speaker you may want to block out reflections coming back to the mic. The reflections can cause unwanted phase cancelations. I depends on how "live" your studio if you get any reflections.

Also, some ribbon mics are very sensitive to high SPL's. So check the specs before you crank up your amp. Here's some good info for you...
