Which experiences have you made recording with the new onyx desks (820/1220/1620/1640i) ? I use it with Logic 8 running on an old G5 iMac.
I had the Apogee duet before which sounded great but was limited concerning inputs and user interface.

I like the concept but:
My main issue is the low recording level. The recorded signal does not necessarily sound bad, but I am afraid to lose quality working with such a tiny wave....

Any input highly appreciated. Have you compared it to the apogee ?

PS I am mainly recording vocals (Neuman U87), electric & ac. guitars (sm57) and keys (Yam. S90 es).

I have an 820i I use with Sonar....yes, the low level is something to get adjusted to. I talked to the Mackie tech guy, he explained why it is how it is.

As far as bang for the buck, you can't beat it's flexibility, preamps, EQ, etc.

Thanks Ultron,

... well if mackie says that it is allright i am willing to believe.
Maybe it's because the apogee duet gave me such a hot signal ....
OTOH i have had a Alesis multimix FW which gave me much hotter levels as well.

I am ging to compare some of my new files with my old apogee recordings.
