My Ibanez of some years came with med jumbo brass wire. It's been played nonstop, and has already had a fret job that's taken the hieght down a bit.

I recently picked up a Suhr modern with SS jumbo frets. I love them. Much easier to play, and seems they won't wear as the brass.

    So my questions:
    1) will moving from brass to SS cause a radical change in the tone? (Likely brighten, as it's a harder material), and
    2) what is involved in the process - average length of repair, what is a reasonable expense, possible/probable damage to board, etc?

I've done some online research, but would like to hear personal experience and opinion, especially from those who might say they'd stick with the original size/material. Thanks.

upgrading to full jumbo ss is totally allowed :)

if you liked it on the suhr you'll like it on your own guitar, and no, it won't change the tone, golden-ear internet naysayers aside.
