Anyone have any good info? i know the site says 5U4GB, but mine came with a 5AR4........any pros/cons for either? More/Less headroom? More/less sag?
Oh, and for my purposes, the less headroom, the better.

    Thanks,
    Woody

5u4 is going to sag the voltage a bit...brown it out just a touch.
    = reduce headroom.

For lowest headroom go with a 5R4 (not 5AR4) rectifier.

that's a cathode bias amp Mike, wonder if that's going to starve the voltages?

Not that I'm too up on 5R4's. You stock those too I'm sure.

OP Doug and Mike are about the only 2 guys I trust on new production tubes. And they do gte nice nos stuff as well.

Damn Mike, you have lightly used 5U4's for 20 bucks? That's a deal right there.

No starvation. We're talking something like 35-40 volts under a 5AR4 at full tilt. Same heater current as a 5AR4 too so none of the dangers of a 5U4.

Damn I gotta twist the ol'lady's arm into letting some fundulation loose.

The 5R4 in my JTM45 running 6v6's might be damn cool.

Hey man. Glad to see you're still liking the mi-6. Where did you see that's it's supposed to be a 5U4GB? The Reinhardt site says 5ar4 and that's what it came with.
