clean platform demo

http://www.reinhardtamps.com

This is a demonstration of the Reinhardt Storm 33 amplifier. This amplifier has a plexi heritage but adds some tidbits like JCM-800 style switchable gain, a club-friendly 33 watts, and power scaling.

Big shout-out to Chris Staton of http://www.theamphouse.com
for lending me the amplifier for the demo.
The amp was demonstrated with the following equipment:

'80 Tokai Les Paul Reborn
Nash strat, rosewood board, lollar pickups
J-Design 1x12 Oval Cab
Warehouse Reaper HP 55hz speaker
Wilson Effects dual Lotus-Overdrive
KR Megavibe Vibe

Sounds killer Jack! What is giving you the reverb or the delay? Thanks!

18 demo is coming up next. The 33 demo was very time consuming due to any number of unexpected problems, not the least of which is that my basement is about 55 degrees this time of year and these old fingers don't work too well in that environment. Plus, there were all kinds of lost "basement tapes" where either the video didn't record or the audio didn't record. And on top of that, the demo ended up being 12 minutes long and youtube has a max of 10 so I had to cut out a lot of stuff I wanted to keep.

On the 18 demo I think I'm going to stick with one guitar. (Probably a tele) unless someone has an objection...

Jack can you give a comparison between the 18 and the 33?
Somewhat similar platform...I'm curious if the solid state rec. I normally like the squash a tube rec provides, was did the amp feel really immediate or a bit softer?

They sound very different to me. The 18 sounds more like vox meets marshall and the 33 has more of the classic marshall tone.

If you could throw in a LP int hat 18 demo, even for 1-2 minutes that would be very cool.

I will try to do that. Problem is that my LP needs a refret. It severely impacted a couple riffs I wanted to play on the 33 demo. If I pull off on an open high E string, the string pops out of the nut and gets caught in the tang of the 3rd fret which is pulling out of the fingerboard!!!!

I do have a Gibson HR Fusion with humbuckers that I could use to demo the humbucking sounds with the amp but its pickups are hotter. I'm trying to schedule a refret for my LP so depending on the schedule it may or may not be available for the 18 demo...

Hi Jack,

Pity you didn't really check out the cleans in the Storm 33, could you therefore tell us a bit more about the amp when runned clean? I thought the amp on lower gain settings sounded somewhat like a good Marshall Superbass, what do you think? Could you run the amp pretty clean with a Les Paul on a normal bandvolume?

I'll never forgotattending one of Mark Knopfler's recent shows, definitely one of the best guitar sounds I've ever heard... and I heard he uses his Reinhardt for clean sounds as well! Hope you share your thoughts!

Thanks,
Emiel

i'll try to get to some clean tones but I have to send the amp back. Not sure i'll have time. It's got great clean sounds. Very plexi-like. I would say more like a superlead than superbass though with a closed back cab it might be different.

Jack, many thanks for adding the clean demo (and so quick!).

Fabulous sounding amp, if they were only available in Europe for a reasonable price... anyway I really enjoyed listening to the demo's. I'm sure this will create some new customers for Bob Reinhardt, I might be one of them!

Is the shipping price too high to purchase and have it shipped?

Hi, it's more about the import levy (if that's the right word), they say the Netherlands have the best customer officers in the world (in terms of doing their work properly).

Example: sometimes you'd have to pay like 40% on top of the total price (purchase price+shipping price). That makes the imported good really really expensive... but I might have found an UK store which can get a Storm 33 for me!

Thanks for your help and the demos! I'm looking for a Plexish amp which does the clean and overdrive nicely without all the massive volume that non-master volume amps require. I don't need it as a channel switcher... for some music styles I play I need just a nice clean sound, for others like my bluesband some overdrive and let the volumeknob on my guitar control everything. Plus it can get into JCM800 territory which is my third favorite sound! Your demo did greatly help me, I think I might have found the ideal amp for me :)

I was thinking about getting either the Storm or the MI-6. I'm looking for a plexi sound where you can go from clean to medium distortion with just pick attack. I didn't hear too much dynamic range in your demo. Does the storm have the dynamic response of an SLP?
