I never use the tone pot and I have a thing for removing superflouous parts. So I have a few questions:
    1) what kind of tonal changes might I expect if I removing it and go straight from the volume to the jack?
    2) how do I remove it? Are there grounding issues I should consider...it seems straight forward but
    3) I've seen people fill the hole with a cap thing...where do I get those?

You could replace it with a spring loaded mute button for doing the Ace Frehley ah-ah-ah-ah stutter sound.

To hear what it sounds like, just remove the leg of the capacitor that connects to the volume control. If you don't like the effect, solder it back on.
