    I just haven't spent enough time with the od3 to know. My actual experience with boss drives is limited to the bd2, the ds1, the metal zone, and the heavy metal. I never owned any but I just picked up a bd2 to have John Fromel mod it

    Hmm. "Clinical" is a TGP adjective I've seen lately, and I don't know exactly what any one poster means by it. Any ideas, folks?

    If it's anything like "chewy," and "sterile," then you may have difficulty translating. Those are stupid.

    I think some folks just hate major mass produced pedals, such as Boss. In 25 years of playing, I haven't had one pedal that I couldn't get a usable tone out of -- even a couple crappy Digitech metal distortions (though they aren't too superb for the blooz noodles).

    Boss is a great brand to put against anything, IMO.

    Fair enough. The BD2 is a killer piece of gear, so not much reason to try the others haha.

    This is a fun thread, but it makes me realize Boss doesn't make a ring modulator so I can't fully replace my board. That being said......
    Dunlop MC404 CAE Wah > PW-3
    Fulltone Octafuzz > FZ-5
    Way Huge Ring Worm > ?
    Boss TU-2 > TU-2
    DOD 250 > BD-2w
    Way Huge Green Rhino > SD-1w
    MXR EVH Phase 90 > PH-3
    Boss DD-3 > DD-3
    Way Huge Aqua Puss > DM-2w

    I haven't tried any of the newer Boss pedals. So I'll base this on the ones I have experience with.

    Pitchblack-TU3
    POG2-OC3
    Sub Machine-FZ5
    Vibe Machine and Lester G-RT20
    Malekko Phase-PH3
    DMMTT1100-DD20
    Looker Tremolo-PN2
    Polara-RV6

    The Boss waza pedals have the best buffers on the planet; for now anyways.

    I agree with you 100%
    Some Boss drives sound crap at home (BD2, DS2...) but live, they are completely different and work better than most!!

    Out of the odd 40+ pedals I have, over half are Boss pedals. I rotate them often, so sometimes I do only have Boss pedals onboard, so I will list them in categories I use:

    TU3
    CS2
    PH1r
    OC2
    FZ2
    SD1
    OD3/BD2
    SD2/DS2
    GE7
    CE1/CE2
    DD2/DD3/DD7/DD20/DM2/RE20
    FRV1

    Easy!

    PolyTune 2 Mini > TU-3S
    Ghost Super Six > BD-2W
    Mythical Overdrive > SD-1W
    Nemesis > DD-20*
    HSR-3 > RV-6

    *Intentionally chosen over the DD-500. One part nostalgia, one part the DD-500 sucks.

    I just noticed my second guitarist in my cover band has an all Boss board, even the pedalboard is that grey Boss thing. Sounds fine to me.

    Seems fun.

    Behringer us--> ps6
    Rawkworks light od--> bd2w
    Mxr modified od--> sd1w
    EHX muff--> fz3
    Line 6 m9 --> gt100? Or maybe just dd500
    Red panda particle--> nothing can really replace this, but I could settle for a dd6 I guess
    Timebender --> does the sy300 do arps? Or I'd just get the slicer
    EHX SMMH --> mostly use the looper, so rc3
    Dr scientist BitQuest --> mostly use the sample rate reducer and I don't think boss makes anything like that, so I'll just use this space for a rv3 or dm2w because I like those pedals. :)

    Current vs. BOSS

    TU-3 Tuner (same)
    Dunlop Buddy Guy Crybaby - BOSS Wah
    Ibanez TS808 - SD-1 (?)
    Lovepedal Bonetender - FZ-5 Fuzz
    Bearfoot Fx Model Hs - ST-2 Power Stack maybe? I'd prefer the Combo Drive.
    CE-5 Chorus Ensemble (same)
    Keeley Katana - BD-2 (does BOSS really make a clean boost?)
    Strymon El Capistan -RE-20 Space Echo
    Mission Engineering VM-1 - BOSS Volume Pedal

    Honestly, I don't know lol. I know there is a DD-2 or 3, SD-1, and that red power supply pedal. I should probably know but it's a big practice room and he's only playing with us for a few months.
