What's the best pickups and pots (if needed) to put in these guitars:

    '72 Telecaster Deluxe
nice clean twang / hard rock sounds

    Standard (MIM) Telecaster
classic Tele twang / classic rock

    Standard (MIM) Stratocaster (SSS)
gilmour / eric johnson / daryl stuermer / mark knopfler etc... or as close as possible to a combination of these

72 TD- Lollar Imperials but will have to get new guard.
Tele, Lollar Vintage T neck, Special bridge.
Strat- That's a tough one, Lollar Blondes.

Can't comment on the 72...never used buckers in a Fender.

Tele - Lollar Vintage T neck, Lollar Special T bridge
Strat - Lollar Tweeds, Blonds or Blackface. They basically get progressively thicker in the mids as you go from Tweeds to Blackface. DiMarzio Area 58s & 61s if you want noiseless.

On that '72 Tele, you can send it into Seymour Duncan and they'll wind it to whatever you want. That way you can still keep the Fender picup cover.

If the 72 is a RI, for sure change the pots. I just put RS ones in mine and am in love.
