I do think it's funny when you see a picture of a REALLY big guy playing a guitar and it looks like he's wearing a t-shirt with a picture of a guitar on it.

Larry Bill explains exactly why you need to be fat in his "take off lead country guitar" lesson, right after he explains how to dress, about 2:15 into the video. He makes some excellent points.

I got fat over the past 2 years or so. As far as I can tell my guitars don't sound any better or worse. I'll keep eating though and give you an update down the road.

'The tone of a fat TPG weekend warrior with a PRS and dumble-style amp is the best. It really compliments songs like "Mustang Sally" and "Sweet Home Alabama". Practicing and studying doesn't do much for the tone, but sitting on your ass eating bacon and donuts will".

Almost everything makes some sense, until faced with any semblance of objective testing with protocols and data. Then, almost everything that did make sense still make sense to those that want it to.

If a fat man plays an unplugged electric in the forest, and no one is around to hear him play, does his guitar resonate at the appropriate frequencies?

to get optimum resonance, you need to attach the guitar permanently to your adipose tissue. :)

It would be a thing you can feel in your skin, rather than in your fat, right? The sound waves have to go through your skin to make your fat go all bowl-full-of-jelly, right? Ans the guitar resonates against your skin, right? Although, maybe, the fat might dampen the resonance of the guitar, since the guitar itself would rest against larger area of your body if you were...plump. Or big, healthy, husky, fluffy, or DAAAAMMMN!

Is that where the cocked wah tone comes from?

As a former fat bloke (145KG down to 88kg), I personally find playing guitar a lot easier now. I can't name one thing, but for example having the guitar physically closer to you without your bulk pushing it away from you and getting tired having to reach it is a big difference.

No, not anymore. I was for a few weeks but the pills my doctor gave me cleared that right up. Sitting is a lot more comfortable now.:D

I did. I dunno, maybe I was too excited but I didn't "sustain" for nearly that long!
