Here's a clip of mine with the mods.

Done with the changes for now. Big kudos to Gil Ayan and Scott Lerner for the circuit mods. They did the engineering, I did the soldering.

This clip features an Edwards '56 LP w/ P90s, clean, OD with Mid Boost and OD with PAB

    Jack,

The engineering was done long ago. Great clip but very short!

thanks for the mods info Jack, great playing on that track by the way. Did you have the guitar tone rolled on the OD parts?
Here's what I hear after doing most of those mods to my amp. It has got a little thicker, some might say slightly muddier with more compression - I think a little bit of note separation has been lost. Not better or worse, just different. I had to start again with the setup of the controls, and need to gig the amp see whether it suits (tonight!). The disappointing part for me on my amp is the biting bright edge is still evident on the OD - hence my q as to whether you were rolling the tone. To my totally non technical ear/mind, it sounds like it needs a very small value cap from somewhere in the signal path (of the OD circuit) to ground to just bleed off that annoying high end, you could then use the treble control much more freely to get a good balance with the clean channel. Just my opinion using my tired old ears.

I will probably add the "Gil Ayan Trademark" brightness reduction mod.

Is that the treble bleed circuit with the cap and trimmer?

Yeah, it's a steal of a deal and the build quality is outta sight.

I'm using a connely 2x12 pine cab (open back) with emi rw&b speakers. I think they're a little too dark. I'm finally ready to admit I was wrong about these being so great. My other cab is closed back with wizards in it but I think they sound a little harsh. I have another cab coming with greenbacks so we'll see how they sound.

I don't have a "Boutique" amp at the moment but I have a Crate VC5212 that I converted to a 1x12. It has a RW&B and it sounds pretty good although they are dark sounding. They just make a good pairing with that amp. I agree that The Wizards are bright/harsh. I have one in a 2x12 with a V30 style speaker that My Son uses with a Marshall TSL60 and it is horrible sounding.

As You know I am skeptical about buying from an Overseas amp company but that OTS has My interest. I've done lots of amp modding over the years and could easily do all those mods as well as any tweaking that might be needed to taylor it to My taste.

I believe Nik is now using a modified version of my (actually Ayan / Lerner) layout for his standard amp.
