Just got my first ring mod pedal (heavy electrons saturn). Pedal sounds amazing but putting it before dirt sounds good but adds too much noise audible when not playing even with the noise gate on.

After dirt it tracks perfectly and sounds incredible also. Tracks way better.

Anyone use ring mods after distortion (high gain distortion)?

Yep, I used it after a Fuzz Factory on this track:

I think there's a use for a lot of mod effects after distortion. It just depends on what you're trying to achieve. I run a Strymon Mobius in pre/post setup with my rig just for this purpose. I've even got a couple of patches where the pre/post parameter is linked to my expression pedal so I can swap its location in the chain on the fly.

I've got my Vapor Trail analog delay before the Mobius in the loop, too, so as a move an effect into and out of the loop, I'm also swapping whether the effect is delayed or if the delays are "effected." That part is perhaps less useful, but still fun to goof around with.

I run a Randy's Revenge before my dirty amp, but after fuzz. It sounds great before or after dirt. I keep the mix lower when running it before dirt.

    Guitar > wah > tuner > comp > Mobius (Pre) > Boost / Dirt / Fuzz > Input

Send > EQ > Vapor Trail > Mobius (Post) > Flashback > Reverb > Return

I use one that tracks pitch (Vitruvian Mod) so I always guessed it would be hard after distortion since it is monophonic.

I run my Randy's Revenge after fuzz/dirt. I've tried both and didn't notice much of a difference. Often Ringmods are also great tremolos though and I definitely think trem after dirt is the way to go.
