Gutted by this, he was one of my biggest influences as a guitarist - such a simple player yet so soulful. That's the third member of Mazzy Star to go before their time.

I met David in 1996 - Mazzy Star were in town, I was in a little vintage clothes shop and spotted Hope Sandoval and said hello. She looked at me like I was trying to mug her and David appeared out of nowhere to rescue her, chatting amiably with me whilst she rather visibly hid behind some coats. He was a real gent that day, looking out for his friend and making sure a fan had a nice experience.

RIP David.
