Three Dog Night has been one of my favorite bands for over 45 years. I have seen them numerous times over the years. They are probably the greatest cover band in history. Their keyboard player, Jimmy Greenspoon, died yesterday at the age of 67 from melanoma.

I'll never forget listening to their first album and hearing the opening organ riff to their version of Chest Fever. One of the things that really turned me on to the band. Most people think of them as a pop hit machine, but those people have not listened to the deep cuts on their albums. They could really rock and Jimmy Greenspoon was a big part of it. It won't be the same seeing them without him.

Sad news. The first album I ever bought was 3 dog nights greatest hits. I saw them in concert about 20 years ago.

    RIP.

Few could work a B3 the way Jimmy could.

"Easy To Be Hard" and "Try A Little Tenderness".

Lessons in how to play a B3 with expression and to fit the song.

    RIP

My first ever rock concert - 1973. I was 12 years old and a big time fan. Jimmy's grinding B3 certainly accounts for my love of that sound. RIP.
