Just read that he passed away. Don't know any details, read it on Facebook and it appears to be accurate.

Very sad to hear - his '59's have been making my 335 sing for many years.
    RIP Peter.

    Wow, that's awful.

I met Peter several times back in the early days of 30th St. Guitars. Matt used his stuff on a lot of the early repros they were doing at the time.

He was always unassuming and generous with his time.

Just heard this am from a mutual friend... terrible news. People have asked me if the Florance Voodoo 59s in my R8 are real original PAFs based on their sound...

    RIP Peter.

    RIP

I got a set of Florance Voodoo ‘59s on this forum a couple of years ago. They made my already great Les Paul even better.

One of the best guitars I ever played was a friend's Flying V replica that Florance had built the body/neck for.

I have a set of his pickups in my P-Bass. With flats it's instant Donald "Duck" Dunn. I am so sorry to hear this. I never got to try his guitar pickups. Damn!

Very sad to hear of his passing. I didn't know him well, but spoke to him on the phone and via email. He was super nice, and his pickups in my Danocaster always inspire me.

he was very nice to me back when I was looking for some pickups of his. He took the time to offer suggestions. I seem to recall hearing he had some health issues and am very sad to hear this. I was just looking at some of his strat and tele pickups last week.

Very sad, I haven't talked to him for years but he used to come to Rudys all the time.

Really unfortunate and sad. His pickups are some of the best I've ever encountered for PAFs. My condolences to his friends and family.

I went on a tone quest, through a large number of PAFs, and his were the very best. Sad to hear.
